Character design 101

These Character Design Courses were originally in person but now we have also moved them online!

Everyone loves character design! Characters are what people connect with. Audiences want to love your heroes! They want to hate the villains!  Appealing design and relatable emotions is what you want. Monsters, animals, and people are all part of character design!

After completing each assignment your teacher will review and correct it.  They will instruct you on how to make your character design more appealing. Think of all the animated movies you love. The little mermaid! Beauty and the beast! Alladin! All these characters are lovable and relatable! Not just feature films but think of all the cartoon stars you have come to love. Rodger Rabbit. Mighty Mouse. Mickey Mouse. Donald Duck. Bugs Bunny. Tom and Jerry. The list goes on and on. Each show must design the character according to the budget and audience. Character Design Courses in India started off as a way to teach nonamericans to create characters that had a global appeal. You want the world to love your characters not just your part of the world.

What do you need for this class?

You need to be drawing a lot! You should practice drawing and sketching wherever you are! Study film and comics. Study animation and look at lots of reference books\

You should also have taken some figure drawing classes.

The Hero Character
What makes a character "the Hero" In this session you will learn to design "The Hero Character"

Sexy Female Character
In this session we will discuss what defines the "Sexy Femail Character" and how we can play with the rules and sterio types to creat an apealing "Sexy Femail Character"

Animal Sidekick Character
In this session, you will be designing an Animal Sidekick character.

The Villain part 1
In this session you will learn what makes a Comedic Villan, and you will design a Comedic style Space Villan.

The Villain part 2
In this sessionwe will laren more about the diffrent types of villans, and yoiu will be asked to design a Menacing Space Villan Character.
