Learn Video Editing

Learning video editing is important because it is the key to blending images and sounds to make us feel emotionally connected and sometimes truly there in the film we’re watching. It’s a safe assumption to say that video editing is among the most important jobs in the film industry. As an artist and animator, you have already learned how to draw and think visually by taking classes like basic human drawing and sketching. Now you complete your understanding by practicing how to composite it all together.

Is this important for animation?

In today’s world media is everything. If you work at a huge studio you most likely never do both animation and editing. However, most animators work in some capacity as their own animation studio. You must balance both the visual art side and the editing side.

Video composting is a priceless skill and you will need to learn video editing to complete your personal animation projects.

This course does not teach video software and technical skills of using the software. This course teaches how to communicate through the timing, angles cuts, sound, and music, that you use in editing. Also how to cut what is not needed in your video editing. These are all concepts that no matter what program you use will benefit you. Many students get caught up in the latest fancy application. Just use the one that is easiest for you. We like Lumafusion for students as it works well with the Ipad. If you have a computer you can use any editing program you want. There are some free and paid ones out there.
